The Dream.

When I was about 12, I was asked by this artist friend of my moms to help with the rehab of an old building in Buffalo NY where I grew up. I recall this artist’s work very well; it was wonderfully realistic drawings that were done in pencil… I mean HUGE drawings that were SO DETAILED to the point where he would have a coffee can full of sharpened pencils so that he could draw the individual strands of hair on the head of a figure that was 5 feet in length, EACH STRAND… Do you understand what I am saying…
Anyways… I was in awe of the space, it seemed to me to be a FOOTBALL field in length and I think that it was that time where I was captivated by the idea of having a space to work one day. HENCE DREAM STUDIO. To live out any dream is for many something that can be pretty overwhelming, so image something and then to be able to realize that thing is a true honor. It honor so much, I think that most importantly it honors GOD. It can be said that GOD sets you forth in this world with dreams (visions might be a good way to put it), where you see things that you absolutely have to achieve and you strive for them.
Seeing this space come back to life has been a real journey. To watch something go from sleeping to awake after so many years of slumber is an inspiration. I hope to share this space with others, not just with my work, but with others works and gifts as well. Space is an amazing thing, because with it you can form so many ideas inside of it, it is not contained to any one idea. 100 years ago when they put the bricks together for the 711 East 31st, they did not know what DREAMS would fill it.
